What is a topsite?

A topsite is a site with a ranked listing of different websites, generally related by an overall subject. The higher a site's ranking is the higher it is listed on the topsite.

How does 100DesiTopsites work?

100DesiTopsites basically serves as a gateway between all listed websites. A visitor comes from a participating website by clicking on the 100DesiTopsites button, lands on 100DesiTopsites and once again clicks on a link listed on 100DesiTopsites that interests him / her the most (usually one of the highest ranking sites).

What are the advantages of joining 100DesiTopsites?

How can I get the most out of 100DesiTopsites?

There are several ways you can profit more from 100DesiTopsites.

First of all, make sure that you put the 100DesiTopsites code on as many pages of your site as possible. Now you may ask why? Well, simply because every unique IP address that loads the 100DesiTopsites button (the tracking image), will register a "hit" for that day. The more unique hits your websites gets, the higher your listing will be on 100DesiTopsites. A higher listing means more exposure and more exposure means more incoming traffic to your website. If you put the 100DesiTopsites code only on one or two pages of your website (for example links pages) there is no guarantee that each visitor to your website will visit those links pages. The second most important thing you can do is to upload your banner on 100DesiTopsites. We allow members to upload a 468x60 banner along with the listing. If a member's website is ranked among the Top 5 on 100DesiTopsites, the banner will be displayed along with the listing. Make sure to upload an attractive banner to attracts more eyeballs for your listing. An attractive banner will surely result in more incoming traffic to your website.

How are participating web sites ranked?

The average number of page views received per day determines the ranking process. At the end of the day, the statistic will reset in order to record the new 100 Desi Topsites list. The more unique visitor a web site gets, the higher it will be ranked.

What kind of sites are accepted at 100DesiTopsites.com?

Sites catering to desis from around the world are accepted.

Which web sites are not allowed to participate?

Web sites that feature the following content are not welcome: adult content, discriminatory materials, profanity as well as pages without focus on desis in general. We are also not too fond of websites which have mostly "In Construction" pages. 100DesiTopsites reserves the exclusive right to be sole arbiter as to which web sites qualify for addition.

What is the required banner size?

The required size for all banners is 468x60 pixels. Submit a banner only if it's 468x60 pixels or smaller. If you do not have a banner, leave the field as is. A default one saying, "Please visit my site," will be used if your website is in the top three spots. Also remember that freehosts such as Geocities do not allow direct linking. We will edit out any banners that display as broken images.

How long will it take for my site to appear on the Topsites?

Usually within 24 hours. If your website is accepted you'll receive an email with 100DesiTopsites code.

Where do I get my HTML (button) code from?

Once your site is accepted into 100DesiTopsites you will receive an email with the code for the button. You can also retrieve the code anytime from the User Control Panel of 100DesiTopsites.

Why isn't my page showed on the front page?

Your page has to be ranked in the top 20 to be shown on first page.

I want to review a site but can't find a "review" link.

Click on the "stats" icon on the right hand side of the site's listing which you want to review. This brings up a second page of information about the site. There you will see the link to review the site. You must enter both a rating and review together.

I know a great desi site how do I add it to your list?

Under our rules only the owner, administrator, or webmaster can add a site to the list.

What are 'hits in' and 'hits out'?

Hits in are the hits or valid clicks - a visitor sends from a 100DesiTopsites member website (clicks on the 100DesiTopsites button), hits out are the clicks from 100DesiTopsites to our members' websites.

I lost my html code. Where can I retrieve it?

You may get the code by logging into 100DesiTopsites User Control Panel. Once you are logged in, click the link that says 'Link Code'. Your html code will be there.

I lost my password. Where can I retrieve it?

Click here. Enter your username and click 'Get Password'. You password will be emailed to your email address that you signed up with.

Is 100DesiTopsites free to join?

Yes. Our aim is to increase site traffic among web sites related to India, Pakistan or desis in general.

How do I join?

To become a member of 100DesiTopsites, go to the Join page (http://www.100desitopsites.com/index.php?a=join), choose a username and password, and enter your information. Then click the "Sign Up" button and you're done.
